Active Directory (AD) is a Microsoft-developed directory service used by URI to authenticate and authorize users and devices in the network. Integrated with Microsoft Azure, Active Directory forms the foundation of URI’s Single Sign-On (SSO) service, enabling secure and streamlined access to university systems and applications. It also ensures centralized management of security policies, identity data, and software updates across multiple platforms.
