Host your department or project website on a centrally managed Apache platform — one of the world’s most widely deployed web server technologies. The platform supports PHP (currently version 8.4) and is designed for URI departmental websites and custom web applications.

The hosting environment is built for reliability and performance, running across an array of web servers behind load balancers that distribute traffic for high availability. The load balancers also serve as reverse proxies (see Application Proxy if you need this capability for a server outside of web hosting), and ITS handles SSL certificate provisioning and termination — departments do not need to manage certificates independently. Departments that require a database backend for their web application can pair this service with ITS’s Managed Database Hosting service.

Support and Training

ITS is responsible for the web hosting infrastructure — server installation, configuration, patching, backups, load balancers, SSL certificates, and platform-level maintenance. Departments are responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting their own web applications.

Departments needing a database to complement their web hosting can also request Managed Database Hosting from ITS.
