What: URI's IT Innovation Group, in partnership with Modo Labs, has created the Rhody Connect application that integrates with all of the university’s major information systems, and provides an interactive mobile campus experience for current and prospective students, faculty, staff, and visitors.

Why: In support of the URI Academic Strategic Plan: Innovation with Impact, Rhody Connect is an application of technology that promotes innovation, engagement, efficiency and effectiveness. Goal #1 - Enhance Student Success: "Transform undergraduate and graduate learning and academic support with a firm commitment to student success and the development of knowledgeable, skilled, and engaged graduates prepare for an ever-changing world.”

  • A new Admitted Student persona has been added to Rhody Connect. The persona was created as a companion to the new Rhode to Becoming a Ram website, created for accepted and matriculated students.
  • The Commencement module has been added to the Student, Faculty/Staff, and Visitor personas. The module will be updated as more information is available, and will include up to date schedules plus live streaming of the ceremonies during Commencement weekend.
  • News and Media have been combined, adding live and podcast streaming options
  • Campus Job Postings has been added as an opt-in notification channel. Subscribe to the channel to receive notification of Handshake on-campus jobs as they are posted.
  • Club Sports rosters and schedules have been added to the Sports and Entertainment Module
  • Additional minor enhancements to improve usability

  • Featured Events now scroll across the top of the page
  • Tap All Events to view all of the calendars' events at once
  • Search screen searches all of the calendars
  • Access the Athletics calendars from this page as well
  • Bookmark events to see them included on your custom My Calendar page

The URI Student Directory has been added to Rhody Connect! It joins the Faculty/Staff Directory under the new Campus Directories icon. You can now email fellow students and add them to your phone's Contacts from within the app. To safeguard privacy, users must be logged in via URI Single Sign-On to view student information.

The Rhody Connect Directory module has been updated and is now easier to use. You can now call or email faculty & staff, and/or add them to your phone's Contacts, all from within the app.

Version 1.1 released: Gmail and Virtual ID Card icons have been added to the home screen. iOS users will need the newest release of Rhody Connect to enable direct access to these apps. If tapping the icon brings you to the App Store, and you already have the app installed, an update is needed. More information on updating the app is available at Apple support.
