The Open Storage Network (OSN) is a a distributed, multi-petabyte storage cloud specifically designed for the research community. It provides secure and accessible storage for large datasets, facilitating data sharing and transfer among research organizations, projects, and communities. OSN aims to simplify data access and high-bandwidth delivery of large datasets to researchers. For simplicity, it can be thought of having the simplicity of Google Drive but with the storage capacity of a large HPC system.
URI has its own OSN Pod with over 1 PB storage capacity hosted at the Markley data center in Boston in the OSHEAN suite there. To obtain an allocation on OSN, URI researchers should simply contact the IT Research Computing team at itrcs-group@uri.edu.
Detailed documentation on access and usage of OSN is available here: https://openstoragenetwork.github.io/docs/
