Biography

Mike Motta earned a BS in Management and Information Systems and an MA in History at URI in 2009. He joined ITS as Manager of Application Development in 2003 during the transition from mainframe to ERP administrative systems, previously working in IT for companies in the Financial Services industry. He has led several process streamlining and re-engineering initiatives at URI including expansion of implementation of services within PeopleSoft. Mike is a member of President Dooley’s Administrative and Management Review Committee (AMRC), also leads the Information Technology sub-committee providing a series of recommendations for restructuring IT services across URI for the 21st century. He led the IT Strategic Plan effort with outside consultants in support of university leadership accepted recommendations and works closely with academic affairs on new initiatives such as the fully online RN to BS program, LMS Task Force, IDEA Task Force and Brightspace implementation. Currently Mike is leading Service Administration of ITS focusing on infrastructure and process for delivering IT services in a service management principles, including outreach, strategy, communications, project organization, business and contract services.
