Training and How-To Guides

Access to Top Hat is integrated into the University Single-Sign-on (SSO) solution via the Office 365 portal at https://web.uri.edu/its/office-365/. If you are having problems with your SSO credentials, please go to https://password.uri.edu to reset your password. This process will synchronize all of your passwords except eCampus.

    Look for the LiveChat icon on the home page as well as a bunch of other locations in the product – if you need help at any point, just click on the icon and get connected directly to Brightspace staff, even when the URI Service Desk is closed.

Navigate to URI Microsoft 365 Portal, and select tab on the top of All apps icon on the bottom right corner of the pae and select PointSolutions All apps.

In Brightspace, select the course you are teaching, navigate to Content tab on the Nav bar, select Existing Activities–>External Learning Tools–>URI TurningPoint Poll System to access PointSolutions in Brightspace.

eCampus Has Moved to SSO

eCampus now utilizes Single Sign-On (SSO) for a faster and more secure login. Visit myapps.microsoft.com and look for the eCampus tiles.

eCampus is the University of Rhode Island’s central online system for Student Administration, Financials, and Human Resources. Students, faculty, and staff use eCampus to manage class registration, timesheets, payroll, requisitions, and other administrative tasks.

Note: Access is integrated with URI’s Single Sign-On (SSO). If you experience login issues, visit myapps.microsoft.com directly – not using saved links or bookmarks.

How to Log In:
Use your URI credentials to log in through the Microsoft MyApps Portal. Locate and select the eCampus tile once signed in.

First-Time Access:
New users must Register for eCampus. This includes students, faculty, and staff.

SSO Reminder:
eCampus is only accessible via URI’s Single Sign-On. Make sure you’re not using outdated bookmarks or links.

Browser Tips:
If you have trouble accessing the portal, clear your cache and cookies. See support instructions under the Support section.

The URI wired network provides robust Ethernet connections to thousands of locations across campus, ensuring reliable access for devices such as VoIP phones and desktop computers that require a physical connection.

Managed by ITS Infrastructure Networking, the system delivers high-speed, secure connectivity for academic, administrative, and operational needs.

The University of Rhode Island provides campus-wide WiFi access through three networks:

  • URI Secure – The recommended encrypted network for students, faculty, and staff.
  • URI Open – For initial setup and guest access.
  • EDUROAM – Available for visitors from participating institutions.

For best security and performance, all URI account holders should connect to URI Secure using their university credentials.

    The VPN service allows secure remote access to internal URI systems and resources. It is recommended for users working off-campus who need to access services not available over the open internet. Common uses include accessing eCampus while traveling or connecting to restricted internal resources from another location.

    About the Service:

    Features

    • Secure Off-Campus Access: Connect to internal University systems while working remotely or traveling.
    • Data Protection: VPN encrypts your connection to safeguard sensitive data and maintain privacy.
    • Two-Factor Authentication (DUO): VPN requires Cisco DUO for secure login. The mobile app adds a second layer of identity verification.

    When to Use VPN:

    • Access secure URI services not available over public networks.
    • Connect safely to URI systems while abroad. (See Travel Guidelines)
