INSITE is utilized to maintain the University's space inventory, floorplan library, and moveable equipment inventory. Video editing suite that works seamlessly with Panapto

Knowmia (formerly Relay) provides desktop video capture and video hosting - commonly used for lecture capture.

SnagIt is a screen capture tool that allows the storage of both static images and videos of screen activity. Integrates with Camtasia and Relay.

Panopto is a video capture and replay platform fully integrated with our Learning Management System (Brightspace). It is the recording and replay system used in our 21st century classrooms.

An online survey tool, including both data gathering and data analysis capabilities. The tool has a large number of standard question types and multiple communications channels.

JupyterHub brings the power of notebooks to groups of users. It gives user access to computational environments, the Jupyter notebook, without burdening the users with installation and maintenance tasks. It is a multi-user Hub that spawns, managers, and proxies multiple instances of the single-user Jupyter notebook server.

RStudio is a GUI for running R programs. It can be installed on a workstation or a server.

ATLAS.ti is Qualtitative Analysis software for analyzing large bodies of textual, graphical, audio and video data.

SAS statistical analysis software can be run via our Educational Analytics Suite license as a stand-alone application on Windows or Linux, or via the online browser-based SAS OnDemand for Academics, which also allows Macs to access it.

SPSS provide statistical analysis and can be run code-free in a complete GUI. Commonly used by the social sciences but is growing in scope to include Business and Engineering researchers, faculty and students.

Active Directory Authentication

The Azure service provides Single Sign-On to multiple applications and provides integration to Office365.

DUO is a 2-factor authentication solution provided by the University of Rhode Island to all active faculty, staff, and students. This tool acts as a second verification when signing into your URI accounts. Verification is implemented via a push notification, SMS message, or phone call.

LDAP is used to authenticate users and determine group membership

The Virtual Private Network (VPN) service provides an encrypted connection for your computer to connect to resources on the secured campus network. VPN is required for sensitive data traveling across public or other networks.

The Absolute platform provides monitoring and managing laptops and desktops for physical security and PII tracking.

IT Security Services provides all necessary support to a department needing to protect network attached resources utilizing a VLAN firewall. Managed Firewalls protect your network from unauthorized access and malicious attacks. This is a highly collaborative engagement between IT Security Services and the department to ensure that all needs are met.

The Qualys vulnerability management platform provides detection and notification of vulnerable systems and services.

Hardening your computer is an important step in the fight to protect university data and information. This process works to eliminate means of attack by identifying vulnerable configurations and turning off unneeded services.

In order to better protect the University community from phishing, spam, and imposter emails IT Security Services has implemented Proofpoint, an email protection service.

Anti-malware and anti-virus platform.

URI participates in the InCommon Certificate Program, which entitles URI to issue unlimited SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) certificates for SSL/TLS web servers, The InCommon Certificate Service provides unlimited SSL, encryption and code signing PKI certificates for all domains owned by URI for one fixed annual fee, allowing URI to issue certificates based on technical and security needs. The certificates are generated through Sectigo, a trusted commercial certificate authority.

The HECVAT is a questionnaire framework specifically designed for higher education to measure vendor risk. Before you purchase a third-party solution, ask the solution provider to complete a HECVAT tool to confirm that information, data, and cyber security policies are in place to protect your sensitive institutional information and constituents' PII.

Information technology security services provide advice and support for securing University IT assets.

Information Security Services initiates and conducts the incident response process to address a variety of security incidents on campus.

Conducting an investigation of electronic data such as email, instant messages, internet history, word processing files, spreadsheets, social networking content that is stored on desktops, laptops, file servers, mainframes, smart phones, and employees’ home computers or on a variety of other platforms.

Provide lifecycle management support for IT policies, guidelines and standards (e.g. creation, revisions, rescission, and publication). Policies refer to the collection of written rules encapsulating requirements for university behavior that are significant enough to be formalized. Guidelines provide non-mandatory instruction or best practice, while subsequent technical standards will determine the how.

Support and oversight of risk assessment activities to identify, and recommend remediation for risks affecting systems and processes, particularly as related to specific compliance frameworks such as PCI DSS and HIPAA.

The TurningPoint response system collects student response in real time using custom devices available through the URI bookstore.

Top Hat Classroom is an interactive, cloud-based teaching platform with which URI has an official partnership. Using Top Hat, Instructors can pose polling questions and ask students to respond using their smart phones or laptops. Top Hat quickly collects and visualizes student responses, giving instructors a snapshot of student learning to inform class discussions and deliver engaging experiences for students in online, blended and face-to-face courses.

The OMR service provides optical mark grading of bubble sheet responses.
