Cloud Servers

A Cloud server is a logical server that is built, hosted, and delivered through a cloud computing platform over the Internet. Cloud servers possess and exhibit similar capabilities and functionality to a typical server but are accessed remotely from a cloud service provider. Examples of these service providers are Amazon Web Services (AWS/), Google, and Microsoft, etc. Many web based applications are supported and run from cloud servers maintained by a provider. URI has numerous applications delivered via this manner, for example, Brightspace, URI Events, etc. The URI Infrastructure group has extensive experience provisioning and supporting cloud server applications. If you or your department is interested in this technology please contact the IT Service Desk to request a consultation.
