Biography

David Porter is the Director of ITS Infrastructure. In this capacity he is responsible for the university’s data center services, network and cloud services. Prior to this he was Director of Media & Technology Services which included network and telecom services, instructional technology, helpdesk services, the URI television studio and media services. He has been with URI since 2002. Prior to joining URI, David worked for international manufacturing companies in various IT roles including programming, database administration, systems management, operations management, telecom management, network design and contract negotiation. David chairs the board of directors for OSHEAN, a non-profit network services company founded by URI and Brown University, was a founding member of AAEEBL, Association for Authentic Experiential & Evidence-Based Learning, and was a board member of NEREN, North East Research & Education Network.
