URI instructions enrolling a landline or non-smart device as a 2FA device in DUO

*****These instructions are meant to provide a way to enroll a 2FA device in DUO such as a landline or non-smart mobile device which does not support the DUO Mobile Application. The process REQUIRES a phone number for second factor authentication. You will need to be able to physically answer the phone that is registered while trying to authenticate ****** 

  1. Log in using your URI SSO account and password:

Reset your password yourself by visiting https://password.uri.edu Or call the helpdesk to have your password reset

  1. Click Start Setup:   
Welcome to DUO
  1. Add Phone number and check the “This is a landline” Box:  

NOTE: A landline can be an office phone or a mobile phone number.  

  1. Confirm the phone number

  1. Confirm Ownership via a text message or phone call
send passcode
  1. On the Enrollment Successful screen choose continue  
  1. You will receive a phone call with instructions to press any key on your phone’s keypad. Once the key is pressed you will be authenticated.
