The Physics Department in the College of Arts and Science launched a Quantum Initiative in 2021 with several new graduate degree programs on quantum computing. IBM is the industry leader in the quantum computing space with multiple systems with over a 100 qubits. To support this initiative, URI has just entered a partnership with IBM for full access to their current quantum computing technologies. This agreement has been funded through an internal collaboration between URI College of Arts & Sciences and the Graduate School of Oceanography.
