All computers, including Apple Macs, need to be protected by anti-virus software just like any other computing platform. An Apple computer running Mac OS X does not include anti-virus as part of the operating system.
The University requires all computing platforms to be protected from malware. We recommend students install BlackBerry Cylance at an approximate cost of $30 a year.
Some free options for anti-virus are also available. Students are strongly recommended to use a paid product alternative although the following antivirus software options are also acceptable. Instructions for each of these options is available through their website. Prior to install, you should remove any older antivirus programs.
Use only these links provided. Many fake anti-virus programs are found on the web and a general search for free anti-virus programs will produce bad results.
