Brightspace is rolling out a new assignment creation experience streamlines the set up process! You will notice this new interface is a lot more simplified and effortless. Instructors will have the option to toggle this interface on and off without losing content. View the short video demo below to learn what’s different.

What does the new Assignment interface look like?

While the old experience has the classic tabbed options on the top, the new interface has an updated look and feel (a) with the primary panel on the left containing common, frequently used fields most relevant to learners, and (b) with widgets on the right containing additional, more advanced options that are logically grouped and can be collapsed and expanded. We recommend that faculty adopt the new experience and begin learning how to navigate the tool with the new interface. Check out the screenshots in the tabs below for a comparison.

How to switch back and forth between the new/old interfaces

Click on the down arrow in the top-right corner of the Assignment creation screen (see screenshot below) to switch back and forth between the interfaces. As an instructor, if you are opting out of the new experience, you will be prompted to leave feedback on the new experience. Choose the answer you are most comfortable when you switch. D2L collects this data as feedback to improve the new experience for us.
